An advanced new addition to New Jersey’s educational system has arrived, in the form of the High Tech High School in Secaucus.
A complex bristling with technology at every turn, one of its many crown jewels is the performance spaces created for the Visual/Tech & Performing Arts Program. Outfitted with a totally networked series of stages and studios, highlights of the performance and production facilities include a 325-seat proscenium theater, a 125-seat blackbox theater, studios for recording and video production, and a digital production lab, as well as a gymnasium.
Criterion Acoustics’ Dave Kotch was selected as the system designer and acoustician for the ambitious project. Kotch specified components including L-Acoutics ARCS Focus speaker arrays for audio reinforcement and Symetrix Edge Open Architecture signal processing in the theater, plus Blackmagic Design Smart Videohubs for the video systems. He also guided the use of Broadway-style audio, video and lighting control for this large-scale venue.
High Tech High School was featured in the May, 2019, issue of Sound & Communications magazine. Read the full article, including extensive insights from Dave Kotch, here.
