Wattenberg selected Criterion Acoustics (CA) to design Arcade Songs’ new studios, calling on the acoustical firm’s expertise to insulate the facility from the nonstop buzz of midtown Manhattan while assuring optimal listening in each room. As the co-writer and/or producer of platinum tracks like Train’s “Hey Soul Sister” and “If It’s Love,” Daughtry’s #1 “It’s Not Over,” O.A.R.’s chart-topping “Shattered (Turn the Car Around)” and more, Wattenberg had exacting standards to satisfy for him and his roster of writers.
Led by CA President Dave Kotch, Criterion Acoustics converted a former office space into a full-service recording and writing studio. CA oversaw the studio design of each of Arcade Song’s four audio suites, custom designed and fabricated all acoustical treatments, and executed airtight sound insulation from the NYC streets outside.
The result is a comprehensive set of studios, at the ready for Wattenberg and his massively talented Arcade Songs team to do their best work. In addition to songwriting for music’s top stars, Arcade Songs has a long track record of composing original music for leading brands including “Hulu Veronica Mars,” Target, Panasonic, BMW, WWE, CBS, Dodge and many more.
“With so much prime real estate in NYC commercial buildings, transforming office space into finely-tuned recording/mixing facilities is an increasingly common request,” Dave Kotch says. “CA applied our deep experience in sound isolation, acoustical panel design and fabrication, as well as maximizing relatively compact floor plans, to provide Arcade Songs with an uncompromising creative space.”
